Ultra-runner John Hunsley completed the incredibly tough Marathon des Sables in 2019. Now he is offering to raise funds and awareness for Rainbow Garden Hull.
Unfortunately, John’s plan to run the Cape Wrath Ultra in the highlands of Scotland in May 2020 has had to be cancelled, due to the measures being taken to control the spread of COVID-19. But he is still running – in line with guidelines which allow for daily exercise outside – and he hopes to arrange another challenge as soon as this becomes possible.
John has been running marathons for many years, but he ran his first Ultra-marathon in 2019 following the death of his wife. He’d found that running had helped keep him going during her illness, and it continued to help him cope with her loss.
Having heard about the Rainbow Garden through a friend, he’s keen to help us in any way he can, because he knows first-hand the value of outdoor activity in keeping mind and body healthy.
